“Choose a job you love and you will never work a day of your life”
-Confucious

My love and passion for horses and belief in this quote led me, years ago, to pursue a career in the horse business. My name is Kelly Smith. I am the owner and trainer at Creekside Show Stable, a show barn specializing in hunters, jumpers and equitation in the Portland area of Oregon.

I love horses, equestrian sport, riding, teaching and sharing my passion. I have over 15 years of professional experience and have loved every minute of it! I look forward to sharing my experience, strong background and outstanding credentials with you. I have traveled coast-to-coast and abroad to immerse myself in learning my craft and my sport. As a professional horsewoman, my experience is well rounded and includes training, coaching and showing at every level, from first lessons for young riders and inspired adults to young horse championships, regional and national medal finals and the Grand Prix Ring.

Some of my career highlights include being named the 2001 World Champion Hunter Rider and winning the 2002 Legacy Cup in Lexington, VA. More recently, I was moved and honored to receive the “Smooth Jazz Perpetual Trophy” in recognition of horse welfare in 2012. Some of my fondest championships were accumulated riding and/or coaching at such prestigious shows as: Capitol Challenge, Lake Placid, Legacy Cup, Menlo Charity, Pebble Beach, Country Heir, Country Classic, Thunderbird and more.
